(April 17, 2012) In 1974 President Richard Nixon established, by
executive order, National Volunteer Week, April 15th-21st, an event
which highlights the efforts of volunteers from organizations,
businesses, communities, churches and schools, who have come together
and to make a difference in someone’s life, community, country or world.
Larue Pest Management believes in service and the power of neighbors
helping neighbors. This month the company donated $1,800 dollars to
local charities.

“It’s not just a donation. It’s an investment in a child’s future,”
is a defining statement of Big Brothers Big Sisters and Larue Pest
Management shares this vision of investing in children. Recently, the
company sent Big Brothers Big sisters of the Suncoast a check of $900, for the 1st quarter of 2012.

“A donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters impacts a child’s life and
makes us part of something bigger,” said Keith Ruebeling, president of
Larue Pest Management. “We realize the importance of giving back and
that is why we donate $10 for every property we are hired to service.
Our customers know, not only will they receive professional service, but
that part of their purchase is going to help someone in the community.”

The company also supports, through its donation program, the American
Cancer Society; a nationwide, community-based organization dedicated to
eliminating cancer. Each year the Society must raise funds to support
cancer research, education, advocacy, and service. For the 1st quarter
of 2012, Larue Pest Management wrote a check of $900, to help in the
fight against cancer.

Terry Music, of the American Cancer Society recently said, “The American Cancer Society
could not accomplish its mission of saving lives …[without] the money
that enables us to fund groundbreaking research, provide the most up to
date and objective cancer information to patients whenever they need it,
and deliver the programs and support that make a difference in the
lives of those in their communities experiencing cancer.”

Volunteers, combined with the finances that support them, make a
difference. Research shows that mentoring works and children with a Big
Brother or Big Sister have an opportunity to lead healthier, more
productive lives. Additionally, in 2011, 157,000 cancer patients
received help in their battle against cancer and over 11 million cancers
survivors will celebrate their birthday this year because of the
efforts of the many supporters of the American Cancer Society.

“We are just a pest management company,” added Ruebeling. “But when
businesses, customers, organizations…well all of us, start combining
efforts the results can be amazing! No matter how little or big a
donation is, a difference is made in the lives of people. They know
someone cares.”
